PATIENT EDUCATION: Brushing technique
Brushing Teeth – Clean All Around People often brush their teeth in a superficial manner, focusing their thoughts on something else, and allowing the fresh feeling of the toothpaste to mislead them. Unfortunately, this has consequences: Hidden plaque, especially in the gaps between the teeth, leads to the destruction of the eventual destruction of the dental enamel, which results in caries. Here you can learn some tips for a good dental hygiene.

The Right Toothbrush

When buying a toothbrush, you should pay attention to the following aspects:
.Select a brush with a plane plastic bristle head and rounded bristles in order not to injure the gums.
.Avoid bristles made of natural fibres. Bacteria can accumulate more easily and multiply  in these.
.If the bristles of your toothbrush already look pretty ragged, it is time to get a new one.
.You should do this every 2-3 months anyway.
.Select a toothbrush with a soft or medium degree of hardness.
.Specially formed toothbrushes, e.g., with flexible heads that “give way” or differently arranged bristles are not necessary.
.Do you own an electric tooth brush? It is also possible to use these to thoroughly clean your teeth. However, make sure to replace the brush attachments from time to time, just like you would replace a normal toothbrush.

The Right Toothpaste

When buying toothpaste, there’s not much that can go wrong. Make sure that the toothpaste contains fluoride for additional protection against caries. There are also tooth surfaces where toothbrushes fail as a cleaning tool. For such areas, there are special aids.

Teeth Cleaning

Among those are the oral douches, dental floss, dental toothpicks, mouthwash, and inter dental toothbrushes. Don’t worry; in most cases, it’s sufficient to use one of these five aids in addition to your toothbrush. Your dentist or dental assistant are the best people to answer questions over which aid is best suited for you because they are trained in prophylaxis

The Right Brushing Technique

A toothbrush is just a tool in your hands. It can only clean the teeth to which you “guide” it. Therefore, brush with a system! Remember, do not just brush the anterior teeth, but also the posterior teeth, which are important for grinding food. Also, keep in mind that every tooth has several surface areas, a fact that is easily forgotten. Brush the “difficult” areas first! The longer you brush your teeth (in one session), the less motivation you have. Therefore, keep the “easy” parts until the very end! Begin with the inside surfaces in the lower and upper jaws. After that, turn to the outside surfaces. At the end, brush the chewing surfaces.

In the beginning, inflamed gums may bleed heavily. However, please continue to brush anyway. A conceivable evening cleaning plan could look as follows: Oral douche, brushing, plaque disclosing tablet for verification, and fluoride-containing mouthwash. Don’t despair; you will see that once the sequence has been practiced, you will only need five minutes for a thorough cleaning of your teeth.
